ahaha maryann you're really funny! (though i'm not sure you meant to be) ;)

okay i shall be the one brave soul and attempt to do an analysis just for fun...maryann please note that i'm JOKING and don't take offence at whatever i say ok?

The first stanza recollects the event of releasing the balloons and the speaker's tone is wistful as suggested by the '...' she uses at the end. This suggests that she treasures this event in her lifetime very much, which can only be expected as we infer that she was surrounded by her nice, kind, beautiful, intelligent etc. etc. friends at this special moment. (although the term 'wistful' here also carries a hint of regret that one particularly nice, kind, beautiful, intelligent etc. etc. friend was unfortunately not present at this significant moment in her life...)

The second stanza moves on from reminiscising the past to discussing the present where harsh reality drags the speaker down to earth from the wonderful realm of memory as she realises with amusement and disappointment that not all her friends were so intelligent after all. What happened was that her affectionate nickname for a particular building was mistaken for a poem by one friend, thereby forcing her to actually write the said poem and subjecting her to this long and nonsensical analysis by me.

The third and final stanza reveals the struggle our dear speaker went through to produce this poem. With determination and self discipline, she resolutely sits down and writes her first ever published poem. The last line portrays a humble poet who confesses (falsely) that her maiden effort is 'yucky and horrible', and she earnestly thanks all her supportive, caring, faithful etc. etc. friends out there who are behind her all the way.
