say, 'ommmmmm....'

this is what you do before every yoga session. it's supposed to instill peace internally and ready yourself for a rewarding workout for body and soul.

in a way that's what prelims are for. it really isn't about the results, and i like to see it as a readying process. to breathe deeply before the ultimate challenge. to steady yourself for a plunge into an exciting ride that challenges your every faculty, combining solid substance with sustaining your cool. finding through trial and error your internal rhythm, and getting that to work for you in a delicate balance.

after all the grade-chasing i've been doing the past one hundred and eighty years, it has come to this: the realisation that learning from your mistakes is far more important than results. and it is courageous to admit that and to demonstrate it in yourself, to celebrate the process and the surprises it springs on you instead of endlessly pursuing an elusive utopia. (even though everyone else is pursuing said utopia)

i feel surprisingly enlightened today. what a wonderful sense of release.

ommmm.

It is always a joy to read all your posts.
I seem to be rather emotional lately though I have no idea why. I cried during Singapore Dreaming, In America and even while watching films like 13 going on 30 and Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. I just felt so strangely moved... And by the way, I do agree that we should support Colin Goh!! Singapore Dreaming is by far the best local production I've seen. Accurate yet not cliche, talks about the dreams, expectations that we face... something we can identify with put forth in a subtle way. I like it immensely.

Did any of you watch In America? I missed the first 20 min of it 'cause I was finishing another movie. but what I did catch was brilliant. Excellent casting, moving dialogues and voice-overs... many, many thought-provoking scenes.

The movies and books I've seen and read in the past few days seem to have had a significant emotional impact on me. I can't explain why. Maybe I've realised that the mundane makes up so much of our lives. it's confusing.

In travelling pants, one of the leads say that she admires how T. and A. could take risks and open themselves to love even though they've experienced such great losses and she, who has never experienced any such loss, could not. Perhaps that is my fear too.

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
But I know that you've got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy
She'll beat you if she's able
No, the queen of hearts is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones you can't get

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they've drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're losin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, and open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
(let sombody love you)
You better let somebody love you
before it's too late

Methinks snail dear has a few screws loose. And yes, i think you're a weirdo. What kind of person, if not a weirdo, goes to ECP alone after exams are all done to do BIO MCQS?

Anyway, snail's weirdness aside, we didn't exactly fufil our agenda on Friday, ie. prom shopping. Perhaps it's kind of early, but theres not much time left after prom, is there? Shrugs.
Still, it was great being out with the girls! Loads of absercise, definitely. Especially laughing at a certain someone who wore too high heels out shopping and spent the remainder of the day taking off her shoes whenever she could, much to the embarrassment of her companions.

I kind of felt that our time together was too short actually. Even on Thursday. Movies aren't the best time for a chat. But Singapore Dreaming was good! Everyone MUST MUST go and catch it because it's about to end it's run in the cinemas and it really tugs at your heartstrings! Poor Colin Goh sounded so sad in today's column.

By the way, do any of you want to "upgrade" our blog to being on beta-blogger? It's supposedly better... only for some weird reason we need a google account. But if everyone's happy using plain old blogger, we'll just stick with it.
Just asking. Heh.

i'm guilty of not visiting this page for a long long time. it's good to be back! time for a temporary breather after prelims.

(maid just screamed and got very emotional over seeing the rat in the basin of my now-temporarily-defunct bathroom)

anyway today's been one of the most enjoyable days i've had for a long while. watched Singapore Dreaming and The Banquet. both good films, the latter mass market and the former touching and close to s'porean hearts and minds. if you havent already done so: please go and support colin goh! he wishes to break even only and this aim only shows how pathetic we are when it comes to supporting home-grown talent! so if you have even an inkling of interest please go watch it - you won't regret doing so. chop stamp guarantee!

okok ad over. the thing i most enjoyed was getting tgt with you you and you again. i know i can always rely on you guys for a great girly outing! (oops tt sounds oxymoronic) only thing was-movies really arent the greatest setting for a nice chat. lunch was too short! well there'll always be more to come. (:

i love cookies. always.
