unfortunately the tale of the gingerbread house does not have a happy ending. the m&m's were too round to be stuck securely on, and the melted sugar hardened too fast for us to work with. After burning ourselves (caramel is hotter than boiling water i think) and wasting time tending to the burns, my sis and I gave up when we saw the uncooperative caramel harden at the bottom of the saucepan. i only managed to glue two walls before that happened.
so i'm going to eat the house pieces as it is! no more messing about with blistering-hot liquid sugar. i'll leave the fancy baking to true professionals.
on a more serious note i wish woonli a speedy recovery. what a scary thing to happen to anyone, out of the blue just like that. we spoke on the phone today and she told me that she felt lucky for all the support and love that her relatives and friends have shown her. i think that sadly, it's usually only in times of crisis that we really get to feel the care and concern from loved ones. personal crises notwithstanding, it is also a fact that during national disasters such as earthquakes and floods that international goodwill is displayed, and diplomatic quarrels forgotten for the time being.
okay sorry for the emotional outpouring. it is christmas after all! sleep tight.

hello my darlings. merry christmas and all things nice! i really hope that all of you are enjoying your christmases. we all deserve a good one after another year of hard work! may you get what you wish for, presents or otherwise.
as for me, i spent the past hour trying to decorate my gingerbread house with icing sugar. since i am a complete novice when it comes to icing sugar my sis and i made a mess of it, of course. we added water that wasn't warm enough, and added too little of it. the icing refused to cooperate and clogged up the pipe by hardening too soon, when it was supposed to flow beautifully and gracefully out if it, forming intricate patterns with effortless ease. maybe we got the stubborn icing sugar.
well in the end we resorted to using our hands and there's now a conspiracy to cover up our lousy icing skills by using choc chips and smarties! if you don't have the skill, you've got to have the brains to cover it up. there's always a way out for cheaterbugs!
will be assembling the house by gluing it with melted sugar after lunch. more updates (and pics) later!

I meant to do this two nights ago but have been distracted from doing it because I was too busy watching the Asian Games otherwise too lazy to come online.
Dinner with Maryann and Sheeyin was good. Pity though that Michelle couldn't make it. I haven't laughed so much for a long long time.
Many wisecracks from sheeyin, just to share a few.
While recounting the whole OBS jump-into-the-sea-because-there's-a-fish-in-my-kayak incident, sheeyin mused, "but aren't there more fish in the sea?"
Later, on the topic of how Winnie the Pooh is androgynous (much to the dismay of dear snail), "How come his name is Winnie the Pooh? Isn't winnine a girl's name? And why 'the pooh'? Doesn't make sense right. What is a pooh?"
I'm sure the staff at gelare were seriously wondering whether we were sane, especially when sheeyin covered her face with her long locks and started grabbing at maryann.
Was worse at Spotlight, where we spent the next one and a half hours laughing about, fighting each other with fake swords, jamming the corridors to take photos, poking all the different pieces of fabric and spying on the employees of spotlight flirting with each other.
I have more anecdotes to share!
Snail : (pointing at picture of humpty dumpty in nursery land) I want to go somewhere like that! Too bad it doesn't exist.
Snail (again): Hey... (fingers lacy material) next time when I get married can use this to make my wedding dress.
...while the 2 sane people stare at her in horror, pointing to the sign above the lacy material which visibly reads "curtains"...
Anyway, photos for viewing! Click here for larger version!
In other matters am too lazy as well to start on my university applications. Despite whatever yiiwen might say, the words do NOT flow when I'm writing them. It's just like a dripping tap, rather than a running stream. Irregular and excruciatingly slow.

i'm feeling very sad. i miss everything and everyone..its as though the end of prom marked the end of everything. couldnt sleep at all last night and so many things went thru my mind. my first day in sch, my friends, waiting outside the lab, lectures, teachers, cca, camps, outings, ups and downs....just about everything of the past 1 3/4 years. whats worse..everyone's gg -friends who returned to their homelands, friends overseas on long hol trips, pple working...and why do the guys sound so depressed over ns they are making me feel sad too.
i am brought to a sudden turning point. what's next? i thought i miss being a student, but hey, its not like we are never going to mug again. BUT its different! i miss the whole school experience i had in jc. life after As isnt THAT great. and now i finally understand what mich said at the bustop almost 2 years ago when i told her i wanted my 2 years to end quickly. she said its gg to be worse after that, when everyone else starts working and we wont have time for one another. i do feel like i am retrenched or sth u know... but i will start LIVING again.
-To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else-
~m~
ps: i wanna see the pics more clearly! they are so tiny

I'm here to do a little update about prom and post some photos (as requested by Yiiwen).
Finally. It's over. After all that frantic rushing about, looking for stuff, and getting on everyone's nerves because I was so picky, it's finally over. And that fact alone takes an enormous load off my mind.
So, despite the cold food and some rather unfortunate events, I did rather enjoy myself, because as everyone agreed, the people made up for it. There were perhaps rather limited photo opportunities, since half the world looked almost unrecognizable after undergoing (as my classmates so aptly declared) "transformations" making the whole walking randomly around looking for people a futile attempt. Case in point: Mavis and I, who have known each other for 8 years taking about 3 seconds to recognize each other. -__-"
To be honest, grad night seemed too short. It felt rather abrupt, and perhaps the realization that this was going to be the last time we would be seeing each other for a long time was rather jarring. And sad, so it definitely felt rather weird. Maybe it's just me.
Woonli and I slept over at Yiiwen's and had a good time, although I'm forbidden to post any unflattering pictures of them here. After a lengthy discussion, Woonli and I decided to wash our hair, which was such a pity! Sigh!
It was definitely great to get out of our shoes (which despite being about 3 inches, didn't do anything for me) and take a nice and refreshing bath. Despite our tiredness, Woonli and I had trouble falling asleep. No such problem for Yiiwen though, and she was such a sound sleeper!
After a measly 3 hours of sleep, I woke up in a pretty much deadened state to breakfast by Yiiwen's gran! (her house is really a food haven!) Her gran made Udeh Udeh -- hot and delicious!
A spot of baking after that, during which we learnt that certain guys can't bake because Ron's cookies were all misshapen! (Woonli I'm sorry if you're reading this) It was interesting to note that each of our cookies had characters of their own! Haha.
Left rather reluctantly for my interview, still in deadened state.
Photos next!!!

I'm kind of enjoying myself slacking around post-exams. Everyone else is rushing around and working but I decided to be indulgent and take at least half a month off before I return to the rat race. And even when I do, it'll definitely be doing something I'm passionate about. No more toilet surveys with a temperamental partner for me, no more working for money alone. I've learnt my lesson there, and I don't regret that job for all that it's taught me. To those who've already started work: I admire your drive and determination. Good luck and may you get lots of satisfaction from doing it!
Okay I started this post wanting to update about what I've been doing. Forgive me for the job thing it was just a spur-of-the-moment reflection.
Anw after May left us on Saturday we got lost going to Ikea! There was this sneaky factory building masquerading in Ikea's blue-and-grey colour scheme so we got off too early in some ulu part of Tampines. So we caught another bus. Correct stop, but walked in the opposite direction from the entrance. When we finally got in we rewarded ourselves with ice cream (chocolate mint, bread) and discovered a queue snaking ard half the carpark to get in.
Being the crafty people we were, and thanks to Ron's sneaky suggestion, the smart three skipped the 30-min queue and entered via the second floor. (: And headed straight for the restaurant. I have to say this: Swedish meatballs ROCK! It's not so much the meatballs themselves that have you going crazy, but the yummy sauce they're doused with. Don't like the cranberry jam though.
Jerm left aft awhile later and I went down to the food dept (partly to avoid being DDP) to get myself a GINGERBREAD HOUSE that you put together with melted sugar. I'll be building it near christmas, watch out for the pics here! I'm so excited. I've never done anything with caramel or icing sugar bef. Go me!
Today I dragged the sister to Little India for face and eyebrow threading. It hurt esp at the eyebrows and upper lip but the lady sure is pro. I'll def be going back. Won't be plucking those eyebrows anymore. Visited Sheng Shiong and decided that this is the place to buy things! Adidas Spray-on deodorant for ladies: $2.85! compared to the $7 I paid at the adidas shop.
I hope everyone is enjoying their hols. Embrace the freedom, leisure and peace! It's healthy to be doing nothing once in a while. My dad's words.

It's kind of funny but I somehow feel I'm more stressed out now, after the exams are over, than during the exams themselves. Sigh.
Lunch over at yiiwen's was good, as it always is. Her grandmother can totally set up a restaurant and earn big bucks from it!
Ooh, and the chocolate was heavenly! Why don't they sell it in Singapore? It's definitely a great stress-reliever. Then again, eating is always a stress reliever for a glutton like me.
Jermz got bitten by a mosquito which was attracted by the chocolate on her elbow!
We're all self-professed gluttons!
My feet hurt. Oh dear, this entry's so disconnected.
