My Answer Is You"
There's a world of difference when faith is in a heart
It stands out like sunlight
Life becomes so dark
And when those around me ask me whyI dare to dream
Or why I love or why sing
My answer is You
My answer is You
You're the hope that my heart is holding on to
Skeptics won't understandヘ
e's strange from the world's point of view
My answer is You
They might find it incredible to belive what I can't see
They might think it's foolish
Or even say it's weak
I want to live my life so differently because of faith
If it causes them to question, for me to say
My answer is You
My answer is You
You're the hope that my heart is holding on to
Skeptics won't understand
ヘe's strange from the world's point of view
My answer is You
You're the reason I'm alive
For every good thing in my life
My answer is You
My answer is You
You're the hope that my heart is holding on to
Skeptics won't understand
It's strange from the world's point of view
But my answer is plain and it's simple, Lord
My answer is You

even when i'm scared i have to try to fly. Sometimes i fall. But ive seen it done before. I got to step outside these walls..

the Shape run is fully registered and i haven't signed up yet. pout.

but fret not, there's the MILK run on 2nd Jul! i've signed up for the 4km community run. looking forward to it! anyone interested in joining me?

the MILK run helps delinquent youths by getting them to train for a competitive run, instilling self-discipline and perseverence along the way. hopefully this helps to keep them out of trouble in future. the money raised goes to several charity organisations. you can try checking out http://www.milkrun.sg for more info.

it's a worthy cause so do consider joining!

In an attempt to liven up midnightcookies, here's another random post. Been VERY slack- indulging in TV, fanfic, books, even soccer... anything but hitting the books. well, so much for this being my study week. -.-

Anyway, I found the lyrics to this song touching. x)

In the Living Years

Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door

I know that I'm a prisoner to all my father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage to all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got

You say you just don't see it, he says it's perfect sense
You just can't get agreement in this present tense
We all talk a different language, talking in defense

{Refrain}
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye

So we open up a quarrel
Between the present and the past
We only sacrifice the future
It's the bitterness that lasts

So don't yield to the fortunes you sometimes see as fate
It may have a new perspective on a different day
And if you don't give up, and don't give in, you may just be okay

{Refrain}

I wasn't there that morning
When my father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say

I think I caught his spirit later that same year
I'm sure I heard his echo in my baby's new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

{Refrain}

by the way, out of curiosity, what's your definition of maturity?

When things go wrong
as they sometimes will,
When the road you're
trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low
and the debts are high,
And you want to smile,
but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing
you down a bit,
Rest, if you must
But don't you quit.

Success is failure
turned inside out,
The silver tint of
the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell
how close you are,
It may be near
when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight
when you're hardest hit -
It's when things go wrong
that you musn't quit.

That kind of sums up our attitude to our whole baking experience. (And it's here also for Maryann's viewing pleasure!)

We sure had much fun trying to bake. Notice I said "trying". Because we didn't exactly get down to baking it, thanks to my oven, which chose a most unfortunate time to short-circuit itself therefore leaving us stranded with 2 batches of muffin mix but no oven to bake them.

Nevertheless, we had tons of fun; I've got the photos to prove it! The whole mixing process went surprisingly well. It wasn't until we were happily dropping blueberries into the flour that we realised that the first batch of apple & spice muffins were taking too long to bake. That led to a most frantic half hour where we tried to locate the root of our problem.

Yea. The oven blew. -__-" After much calming of frazzled nerves, it was time to try out yiiwen's brainwave:- STEAMED MUFFINS.
Hey, it worked. Although we had to gouge the muffin mix out of the muffin tin into a cake tin. And it was hilarious to see the muffin mix sitting in a cake tin in a steamer!
The products of our combined creative efforts looked so cute fresh out of the pan on the chopping board.

The verdict: Theres a reason why you BAKE muffins and not steam them. They come out with this shiney crust-like thing and very little flavour, despite smelling good. Oh, and looking alot like bread. Next time we shall put more sugar and apples and use butter instead of olive oil. Hm...

Photos up next. Drumroll please.

Glamour shot! Guess who took it?

Hard at work measuring and mixing.

That's how muffins are supposed to be cooked. In a tray in the oven. Nice and neat.

That's what you do when the oven doesn't work. Stick it (the mix) in a steamer! That's called CREATIVITY!

Don't you think this looks cute balancing upside down? This picture alone is worth all the hassle of steaming and steaming. (:

Presenting... The Apple and Spice Muffin Cake! (with a little help from the cam's self-timer and my microwave oven)

Blueberry muffin cake all chopped and ready to be served.

Theres always a first time for everything and well, I guess baking didn't agree with my oven. But baking's so unpredictable that you have to try over and over again to get the products just the way you want them.

What's life without its funny moments? Meanwhile, this cookie eater's looking forward to our next bake day, and hopes to see full attendance (looks pointedly at lyd) as well as yummy goodies that turn out right! (:

ladies and gentlemen, the latest gourmet delight:
STEAMED MUFFINS!

born of a stroke of genius when we were in dire straits, this slightly soggy but still edible creation is our brainchild! (: it was fun thinking it up and i'm sure this is an original. in fact the whole day was quite amusing. we found out:
tt somebody has never eaten green apples before.
not to mess with a pear timer.
brooms can be purple!
how to locate the source of a tripped circuit.
cake-shaped muffins are super cute when they do a headstand!
never say die when things die on you.

so it was unexpected. but once again the brave threesome tackled the obstinate kitchen heating
device head on and came up trumps! muahahaha....

*okok tts all my crazy ranting. im high. (:

If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown.

"Have not I commanded thee?
Be strong and of a good courage;
Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:
For the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
Joshua 1:9

Be not afraid.
I go before you always;
Come follow me,
and I will give you rest.

Strengthen me, Lord. My fear, my pain, my desperation are earthly and vanish with your embrace. My bruises show that I'm human and that I need you more than ever. Perfect love casts out all fear. Let me be not afraid no more...

I can see the tears filling Your eyes
And I know where they're coming from
They're coming from a heart that's broken in two
By what you don't see
The person in the mirror
Doesn't look like the magazine
Oh, but when I look at you it's clear to me that...

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it's true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

Never has there been and never again
Will there be another you
Fashioned by God's hand
And perfectly planned
To be just who you are
And what He's been creating
Since the first beat of your heart
Is a living breathing priceless work of art and...

Just look at you
You're a wonder in the making
Oh, and God's not through, no
In fact, He's just getting started and…

you're covered with the fingerprints of God
