i've forgotten how good it is to run at your own lazy pace, nevermind if the grandpa carrying weights and jogging outstrips you. to look around and to enjoy people watching, concentrating not within yourself but without, watching the surroundings go past you at a leisurely pace allows you to truly make running your hobby.

it's been seven days on the job for me and i must say it is getting more exciting. so far highlights include seeing four captions i wrote published, being grabbed last-minute for a photo shoot (because i resembled a teacher), writing about harry potter, meeting wonderful fellow interns who don't think twice about helping you out, getting a free jacket because everyone in the newsroom is entitled to one, being included in IN's bdae celebrations even though i'm new, and mostly nice supes who thank me for my help.

having said that, monday will see me taking on a new challenge. i'll be interviewing two charity organisations solo, and this is something i've never done before, not even for a school magazine. my sole comfort is the fact that a fellow intern underwent the same experience the past week and lived to tell the tale. she rather enjoyed it, in fact. and i've just seen another fellow intern's name in her maiden byline in today's papers. i'd say we're doing rather well, long periods of inactivity in the office notwithstanding.

let me bask in the pleasure of my job for now, because i know that more challenging times must surely be coming. let me have the strength and optimism to withstand these tests, and to emerge unbroken in my spirit for adventure.

everybody go eat a cookie! because i say so. (:
